About the Course

Take your diving to the next level with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. During the course, you will further your diving knowledge and learn skills to use when undertaking different types of diving.

You’ll get to experience 5 different specialty dives including deep and navigation diving, as well as three more of your choice from the following: altitude, boat, digital underwater imaging, drift, dry suit, fish ID, night, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, underwater naturalist and wreck diving.

Knowledge Development

Before heading out, you’ll be provided access to the PADI eLearning materials, which includes lessons on 13 of the most popular diving specialties. These include: altitude, boat, digital underwater imaging, deep, drift, dry suit, fish ID, navigation, night, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, underwater naturalist and wreck diving. You’ll study deep and navigataion diving plus three specialties of your choice from this list. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course theory is all digital, meaning you can do it from the comfort of your sofa on a computer or smart device.

Open Water Dives

The course includes five dives: a deep dive (below 18m), a navigation dive, and the three other specialty dives that you have selected.

During the open water dives your instructor will introduce you to new skills that will enrich your diving experiences and prepare you for different types of diving.

The solo package includes private tuition, one-on-one with your instructor. This is a great option if you’re looking to tailor your course package completely. You can choose when and where you’d like to do the course, as well as which of the specialty dives you want to do and we’ll make it work.

Great for mates and couples looking to do the course together, or if you’re on your own and want to meet a future dive buddy, this could be the package for you. We will work with you and your fellow student diver to tailor this course to the both of you. This course requires 2 students to run.

This package is great if you’re on your own and looking to make some lifelong dive friends, or for a family or group of friends looking to learn together. This course requires a minimum of 3 students to run, with typically a maximum of 4. Anymore than 4, and one of our certified assistants will join us for some extra support.

More Information

Previous dive experience and/or qualifications: You must be a certified PADI Open Water Diver or equivilent from another recognised diving agency.

Minimum age: 12 years old. Divers who are under the age of 15 may earn a Junior Diver certification. After certification 12 to 14-year-olds must dive with an adult certified diver and are limited to a maximum depth of 21m. The same depth restrictions apply for continuing education courses.

Medical fitness: In order to take part in diving, you should be medically fit to dive. As part of your booking process, we will ask you to complete a medical form. If the form indicates that you must get a diving physician’s medical evaluation, we recommend getting this sorted in good time ahead of your course, and prior to finalising your booking. We won’t be able to take you diving if you do not obtain any required approvals, and your deposit may be forfeit. For a list of qualified diving physicians, visit the SPUMS website.

Our base price includes the learning and administrative costs of the course. There may be additional costs to consider depending on the course and your individual requirements, we will confirm these with you when you book onto the course. Once you have received your eLearning access code, you can access the learning platform using a computer or a smart device. To access from you computer, log in to the PADI website.

If you plan to be somewhere without internet access, use the PADI Training app to download course content and study offline. Content can be downloaded in small sections. When you get back online, upload your progress so you can resume your training right where you left off.
